PM Modi praises Gen Z support for BJP, criticizes TMC leadership, and reassures minorities ahead of Bengal Assembly elections.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserted that India’s Gen Z endorses the BJP’s development model, citing the party’s emphatic victory in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections. Speaking at a public rally in Malda, he said the Mumbai civic poll results reflect growing public trust in BJP governance and expressed confidence that voters in West Bengal would also seek change in the upcoming Assembly elections later this year.
Modi Targets TMC Leadership
Addressing the shortcomings of the Trinamool Congress (TMC), Modi said in Bengali, “Ei sarkar palano dorkaar” (“this government needs to be changed”), accusing Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of corruption and failing to implement development initiatives. He alleged that central welfare schemes were being blocked at the state level and warned that the BJP would take strict action against illegal infiltration if voted to power.
Reassuring Minorities
Modi also reassured the Matua community and other persecuted refugees that the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) protects their rights, dignity, and security. He emphasized that development, security, and good governance would remain BJP’s focus in Bengal.
