BJP under Nitin Nabin plans major organisational and ministerial reshuffle, prioritising youth, RSS-aligned leaders, and Rajya Sabha seats ahead of 2029 elections.

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is gearing up for a major organisational restructuring as it prepares for the 2029 Lok Sabha elections, with changes expected at both party and government levels. This revamp coincides with Nitin Nabin assuming charge as BJP National President and the Modi 3.0 government completing two years in office. Nabin has already filed his nomination for the post, and sources indicate that the party’s national organisational team will soon undergo significant restructuring.

Focus on Youth and RSS-Aligned Leadership

The reorganisation is expected to prioritise younger leaders, with most new office-bearers likely under 55 years of age. Fresh faces from various states are anticipated to be assigned key national-level responsibilities. According to The Economic Times, the BJP aims to strengthen its organisational machinery, boost cadre activism, and sharpen political messaging. Leaders closely aligned with the party’s ideology and with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) backgrounds are expected to be favoured, although select external leaders may also be accommodated.

Possible Ministerial and State-Level Changes

Sources said that the Union Council of Ministers is under review, with responsibilities being assessed amid minimal reshuffles since 2021. Several ministers currently manage multiple portfolios, and some are approaching the end of their political careers. The organisational overhaul could open the door to ministerial changes, and political adjustments in BJP-ruled states are also being considered, depending on local dynamics.

In Uttar Pradesh, discussions are reportedly underway to achieve social balance, including possibly elevating a prominent Dalit leader to a key role. Cabinet reshuffles are also being contemplated in Bihar and Rajasthan, while the BJP continues efforts to finalise government formation in Manipur.

Rajya Sabha Vacancies

Another major focus is upcoming Rajya Sabha vacancies. Over 70 seats are expected to fall vacant in the coming year, including approximately 30 currently held by BJP MPs. The party aims to secure at least 33 of these seats, with candidates likely to be selected based on organisational requirements, administrative experience, and social representation.
