The Department of Youth Affairs under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, through MY Bharat, will organise Vande Mataram Camps across the country as a flagship youth mobilisation initiative aimed at strengthening national integration, constitutional values, and leadership development. The first camp will be held in Kolkata, West Bengal, from 24 to 30 June 2026.
Vande Mataram Camps Begin in Kolkata
The initiative will commence with the first Vande Mataram Camps in Kolkata, coinciding with the birth anniversary of Bankim Chandra Chatterjee. The programme is designed as a seven-day residential camp aimed at nurturing informed and responsible youth aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047.
Focus on Constitutional Values and Youth Leadership
The Vande Mataram Camps will provide participants with immersive learning experiences on India’s constitutional framework, democratic traditions, and civic responsibilities. The initiative aims to build a generation of youth who are socially responsible, culturally aware, and committed to nation-building.

Nationwide Youth Participation Initiative
As part of the programme, around 20 Vande Mataram Camps will be organised across selected districts, each hosting 150 youth participants aged 15 to 29 years. The initiative will cover approximately 3,000 youth from six states per camp, ensuring mandatory representation from the Northeast and at least 50% participation from women and socially disadvantaged groups.
Activities and Thematic Engagement
The Vande Mataram Camps will include sessions on the historical significance of ‘Vande Mataram’, India’s freedom movement, constitutional awareness, cultural exchange, leadership development, and digital literacy. Participants will also engage in workshops, community mobilisation activities, and visits to historical sites.
Strengthening Nation-First Youth Vision
The Ministry stated that the Vande Mataram Camps reflect its commitment to harnessing youth energy for nation-building. The initiative aligns with the broader goal of fostering unity, civic responsibility, and active participation in India’s development journey under Viksit Bharat @2047.
