IAS Officer Padma Jaiswal Dismissed Over Corruption Charges, Centre Takes Strict Action

The Centre has dismissed IAS officer Padma Jaiswal over corruption allegations linked to her tenure in Arunachal Pradesh.

In a rare instance of strict action against a serving bureaucrat, the Centre has dismissed IAS Officer Padma Jaiswal over corruption allegations linked to her tenure in Arunachal Pradesh. Padma Jaiswal, a 2003-batch AGMUT cadre officer, was removed from service after receiving final approval from the President of India.

According to official sources, the dismissal order against IAS Officer Padma Jaiswal was issued earlier this week based on the recommendation of the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), which functions under the Prime Minister’s Office. In matters concerning AGMUT cadre officers, the DoPT acts on recommendations made by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

When contacted regarding the development, Padma Jaiswal reportedly said she was unaware of any such dismissal order or official communication.

The action against IAS Officer Padma Jaiswal is related to allegations dating back to 2007-08, when she was serving as the Deputy Commissioner of West Kameng district in Arunachal Pradesh. A complaint filed by local residents in February 2008 accused her of misusing her official position and allegedly misappropriating government funds.

Following the allegations, IAS Officer Padma Jaiswal was suspended in April 2008. However, the suspension was later revoked in October 2010. Despite the revocation, the case reportedly continued to remain under official scrutiny over the years.

Padma Jaiswal Held Key Administrative Posts Across Multiple States

During her administrative career spanning more than two decades, Padma Jaiswal served in several important roles across Arunachal Pradesh, Delhi, Goa, and Puducherry. She was considered an experienced AGMUT cadre officer with exposure to multiple administrative assignments.

As per her LinkedIn profile, University Business School, Panjab University alumna Padma Jaiswal studied at St. Xavier’s School before pursuing higher education in business administration. She holds an MBA degree and is also a Company Secretary certified by the Institute of Company Secretaries of India.

In addition to her administrative responsibilities, she also worked as a UGC Research Fellow with academic interests in business administration, management, international affairs, financial management, and legal personnel management.

The dismissal of IAS Officer Padma Jaiswal is being viewed as one of the rare cases where the Centre has taken such a stringent action against a serving IAS officer over corruption-related allegations.
