“160 lives, one decision- Air India pilots slam brakes at 155km/h to prevent a possible disaster
An Air India flight from Delhi to Kolkata had a scary moment (July 21) at the IGI Airport, just before taking off
As the plane was speeding down the runway, the pilots spotted a technical problem and immediately hit the brakes at 155km/h – a critical and risky speed. Thankfully, the aircraft stopped safely, and no one was hurt.
What about passengers?
- 160 passengers were on board
- All of them got off the plane safely
- Air India teams handled the situation quickly
- The flight will be rescheduled later tonight after proper checks
This is second Air India scare today, earlier a Mumbai flight skidded off the runway during landing due to heavy rain
Both incidents highlight how alert pilots, and proper procedures can save lives
Air India responds:
The airline said sorry for the delay but stressed
“Safety comes first- always”
They are investigating the issue to ensure it doesn’t happen again
A close call, handled well, kudos to the alert pilot who made the right call at the right time
