Karisma Kapoor in Delhi as Kapur Family Estate Row Escalates

Bollywood actor Karisma Kapoor was spotted arriving in Delhi with her children, Samaira and Kiaan, amid the ongoing legal dispute surrounding the late Sunjay Kapur’s ₹30,000 crore estate. The development comes just weeks after Sunjay’s mother, Rani Kapur, publicly raised doubts about the circumstances of her son’s death and alleged coercion in posthumous business decisions.

A video of Karisma keeping a low profile at the Delhi airport has gone viral, intensifying public interest in the estate dispute. Her visit comes at a sensitive time, as legal tensions escalate over control of Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd (Sona Comstar)—the family’s high-value auto components business.

Rani Kapur Alleges Coercion in Estate Management

In a recent statement to news agency ANI, Rani Kapur revealed that she was pressured into signing critical documents shortly after her son’s death on June 23, which she claims happened under unclear circumstances. She alleged that she has not been told the exact cause of Sunjay’s death, although media reports earlier cited a cardiac arrest during a polo match as the probable reason.

Rani also objected to the appointment of Priya Sachdev Kapur, Sunjay’s widow, as a non-executive director on the board of Sona Comstar. She claims the decision was made without her informed consent and that she is being sidelined despite being the sole representative of the Kapur family’s interest in the firm.

According to her, attempts to approve new resolutions and board appointments—presumably linked to Priya—are being pushed through without proper consultation. As a result, she is seeking to halt the company’s upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM) to prevent further decisions she believes could impact the estate’s integrity.

Legal Battle Over Control of ₹30,000 Cr Estate

The ₹30,000 crore estate includes shares, properties, and business stakes tied to the Kapur family’s legacy in the automobile and real estate sectors. The ownership structure of Sona Comstar, a key asset in the estate, is at the heart of the legal dispute.

Sunjay Kapur’s sudden death has thrown succession plans into disarray. His mother’s legal team is now reportedly preparing to challenge the validity of recent board decisions, including Priya Sachdev’s inclusion. Karisma Kapoor’s presence in Delhi during this period has only added to speculation around the estate’s distribution and the possible role her children may play in the inheritance dispute.

Sources close to the family said Karisma’s visit is personal, but given the legal turmoil, it carries symbolic weight. While Karisma has no legal standing in the matter post-divorce, her children—Samaira and Kiaan—may be future claimants to parts of Sunjay’s estate.

What’s Next for the Kapur Family?

The AGM of Sona Comstar, scheduled in the coming weeks, will likely be a flashpoint. If Rani Kapur succeeds in halting it, the boardroom battle could move into a prolonged legal phase, potentially impacting the company’s market standing.

At the same time, any forensic investigation into Sunjay’s death, if initiated, could complicate the proceedings further. For now, there is no official probe, but Rani’s statements have prompted calls for clarity and transparency.

Sona Comstar has not made any official statement regarding the dispute. The company’s investor relations wing maintains that all decisions have followed corporate governance norms.
