New Delhi: Banks in several parts of India remain closed on Thursday, March 26, on account of Ram Navami, as per the Reserve Bank of India’s official holiday calendar. The bank holiday today affects major cities including Mumbai, Ahmedabad, and Kolkata.

The bank holiday today is part of the annual holiday schedule released by the Reserve Bank of India, which lists region-wise bank closures. According to the RBI calendar, there are a total of 18 bank holidays in March 2026.

Banks Closed in Multiple Cities

Due to regional observance of Ram Navami, the bank holiday today is not uniform across India. Banks will remain shut in cities such as Ahmedabad, Aizawl, Belapur, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Jaipur, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, and Shimla.

Since bank holidays vary depending on local festivals, customers are advised to check with their nearest branch regarding closures in their area.

What Services Are Affected?

On a bank holiday today, all physical banking operations such as cash deposits, cheque clearance, and in-branch services remain unavailable. However, essential digital banking services continue to function without interruption.

Online Banking and ATM Services Remain Available

Despite the bank holiday today, customers can still access banking services through digital platforms. ATM services remain operational 24/7, allowing users to withdraw cash anytime.

Online banking options such as NEFT, RTGS, IMPS, and UPI are also fully functional, enabling seamless fund transfers even on holidays. These services ensure that customers do not face inconvenience despite branch closures.

Next Bank Holiday

The next bank holiday will be observed on March 27 on the occasion of Ram Navami (Chaite Dasain) in select regions. Banking operations will remain closed in areas where the festival is celebrated, while services will continue as usual elsewhere.

The bank holiday today highlights the importance of checking regional holiday schedules before planning a bank visit. While physical branches remain closed in several cities due to Ram Navami, digital banking services ensure uninterrupted access to essential financial transactions.
