Chandigarh, April 3 – In a significant push towards reducing pollution and improving public transport, the Punjab Government has announced the introduction of 425 electric buses (EV buses) to be deployed across major cities in the state. The initiative, led by Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar, is set to revolutionize Punjab’s transport ecosystem while contributing to a cleaner, eco-friendly environment.
In a meeting held today at the Punjab Civil Secretariat, Minister Bhullar outlined the first phase of the ambitious project, which aims to replace traditional diesel-powered buses with electric buses that are pollution-free and more energy-efficient. First Phase: EV Buses in Major Cities

- Amritsar: 100 EV buses
- Jalandhar: 75 EV buses
- Ludhiana: 100 EV buses
- SAS Nagar: 100 EV buses
- Patiala: 50 EV buses
