Phillaur (Jalandhar), April 3 – Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Thursday took a major step toward enhancing the state’s law enforcement capabilities by flagging off 139 new vehicles for police stations across the state. This initiative, part of the broader police modernization program, is aimed at empowering ground-level officers and enhancing their ability to maintain law and order effectively.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister emphasized that these new vehicles would be given directly to Station House Officers (SHOs) in 454 police stations, a shift from previous practices where vehicles were often reserved for higher-ranking officials. Mann remarked that SHOs are at the heart of Punjab’s policing efforts, directly interacting with communities and playing a crucial role in ensuring public safety.

Strengthening Police Infrastructure for Effective Law Enforcement

Mann’s government is working diligently to modernize and equip Punjab Police with state-of-the-art infrastructure, ensuring that officers are well-prepared to handle the challenges of modern-day law enforcement. Thanks to these efforts, the BSF report highlighted a significant reduction in the number of drugs being smuggled into Punjab.
