Ram Mandir Donation Controversy Sparks Political Row as Kejriwal Demands Transparency

SIT continues investigation into financial transactions and trust administration amid rising political tensions.

by Tamanna

The ongoing Ram Mandir donation controversy has escalated into a major political flashpoint after Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal launched sharp allegations against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, questioning alleged irregularities and the handling of temple-related funds linked to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple.

Addressing the media, Kejriwal alleged that the Ram Mandir donation controversy involves serious questions over transparency, land transactions, and possible mismanagement of donated funds. He claimed that certain property deals connected to the temple trust were executed at inflated prices compared to earlier valuations, demanding a full and impartial investigation.

Allegations Intensify Around Financial Transactions

The AAP chief said that publicly available documents point to irregularities that cannot be ignored. According to him, the Ram Mandir donation controversy raises concerns about whether proper oversight mechanisms were in place during the acquisition of key properties linked to the temple trust.

He further alleged that repeated warnings regarding suspicious transactions were not acted upon in time, allowing the situation to escalate. The opposition leader insisted that accountability must be fixed if any financial misconduct is proven.

Questions Over Investigation and Evidence Handling

Kejriwal also raised concerns about reported deletion of CCTV footage and alleged gaps in the management of records related to donations. He argued that these developments have deepened public suspicion around the Ram Mandir donation controversy and strengthened demands for a thorough probe.

Comparing the situation to mythological references, he accused the Prime Minister of remaining inactive despite being allegedly aware of the developments. He also suggested that the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was a reaction to public pressure rather than a preventive step.

SIT Probe Expands

The Ram Mandir donation controversy first surfaced after an FIR was registered on June 25, triggering a formal investigation into alleged misappropriation of donations received at the temple trust.

Authorities have since expanded the SIT probe, granting additional time to examine financial records, land deals, and administrative decisions. Officials have confirmed that the case has been registered under multiple provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and several individuals are being questioned.

Investigators are reportedly reviewing transaction histories and collecting statements from key persons associated with the trust. The scope of the inquiry may be widened further depending on emerging evidence.

Temple Trust Responds

The Ram Temple Trust has maintained that it supports a transparent investigation into the Ram Mandir donation controversy and is cooperating fully with authorities. Trust representatives have stated that they are committed to maintaining public trust and ensuring accountability in all financial matters.

Meanwhile, former General Secretary Champat Rai and trustee Anil Mishra have stepped down from their positions, citing moral responsibility amid the ongoing Ram Mandir donation controversy. Officials continue to examine whether further administrative action will be required.

Political Battle Deepens

The issue has now intensified political tensions between the AAP and the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Opposition leaders are demanding clarity and accountability, while the BJP has dismissed the allegations and urged that the investigation be allowed to proceed without political interference.

As the SIT continues its probe, the Ram Mandir donation controversy remains under close national scrutiny. The findings of the investigation are expected to play a decisive role in shaping the next phase of both legal and political developments surrounding the case.
