Thiruvananthapuram: The ED Raid on Pinarayi Vijayan Residence has triggered major political controversy in Kerala after the Enforcement Directorate conducted searches at multiple locations linked to former Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and his daughter Veena Vijayan on Wednesday morning.
According to officials, the ED carried out raids at 12 locations across Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, and Kannur in connection with the Cochin Minerals and Rutile Limited (CMRL) money laundering case. The ED Raid on Pinarayi Vijayan Residence also included searches at a rented house associated with the former Chief Minister.
ED Raid on Pinarayi Vijayan Residence Linked to Veena Vijayan Probe
The investigation is focused on allegations that private company CMRL made payments worth ₹1.72 crore to Veena Vijayan’s firm Exalogic Solutions between 2018 and 2019 without receiving any services in return.
Officials stated that the ED Raid on Pinarayi Vijayan Residence is part of a broader investigation into suspected financial irregularities and money laundering activities connected to the case.

The Enforcement Directorate reportedly intensified its action after the Kerala High Court dismissed a plea filed by CMRL seeking cancellation of the agency’s proceedings.
PMLA Investigation Intensifies in Kerala
The ED had registered a Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) case in 2024 to investigate the allegations linked to the transactions involving Exalogic Solutions.
Apart from the Enforcement Directorate, the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) is also probing the matter. The ED Raid on Pinarayi Vijayan Residence has once again brought the politically sensitive case into the spotlight.
Political Reactions Increase After ED Action
The latest ED Raid on Pinarayi Vijayan Residence comes amid rising political tensions in Kerala. Reports suggest that five police personnel associated with Pinarayi Vijayan, including his gunman, were recently suspended.
Meanwhile, the state government is reportedly considering action against senior police officer MR Ajith Kumar over allegations of attempting to influence investigations.
The controversy has further intensified after a Special Investigation Team (SIT) report reportedly revealed irregularities related to police action during protests against the Nava Kerala Yatra in 2023.
Currently, Pinarayi Vijayan is serving as the Leader of Opposition in the Kerala Assembly following the change in government in the state.
