BACKFINCO announces ₹26.12 crore loan plan for minority and EWS groups in Punjab, supporting self-employment and education for 2025–26.
Members of the state’s minority populations, economically disadvantaged groups, and backward classes can apply for low-interest loans from the Punjab Backward Classes Land Development and Finance Corporation (BACKFINCO). These loans are intended to support their self-employment endeavors and to help students pursue further education both in India and beyond.
Sandeep Saini, Chairman of BACKFINCO, revealed this today and said that the Punjab government is constantly working to improve the lot of economically disadvantaged groups, minority groups, and backward classes.

Saini added that BACKFINCO has set a goal of lending ₹26.12 crore to 1,047 beneficiaries from Punjab’s minority communities (Sikh, Muslim, Christian, Parsi, Buddhist, and Jain) during the fiscal year 2025–2026 under the National Minorities Development (NMD) Scheme.Under this initiative, 219 beneficiaries received loans worth ₹7.22 crore between April 1, 2025, and November 30, 2025.
Additionally, 18 beneficiaries from economically disadvantaged groups have received loans totaling ₹35.80 lakh under the Direct Loan Scheme.As a result, 237 recipients of loans under both credit schemes for the establishment of self-employment businesses received a total of ₹7.58 crore during the current fiscal year. 129 beneficiaries have received loans totaling ₹4.51 crore under the NMD Scheme as of December 19, 2025.
