AAP criticizes Delhi CM Rekha Gupta after Singapore issues advisory to its citizens due to hazardous air quality and GRAP 4 implementation.

The Aam Aadmi Party subtly criticized Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta following Singapore’s advisory to its citizens, issued in response to the implementation of GRAP 4 in the national capital amid deteriorating air quality.

Taking an indirect remark at Rekha Gupta regarding Singapore’s advisory, AAP’s Delhi unit chief Saurabh Bharadwaj stated, “Chachi causes international embarrassment for India,” further adding, “The Singapore High Commission issues a warning to its citizens regarding Delhi’s pollution.”

The Singapore High Commission in Delhi has established an emergency contact number for its citizens, stating, “The Delhi authorities have advised residents to remain indoors, particularly children and individuals with respiratory or cardiac conditions, and to wear masks if they need to go outside.” In this context, the High Commission respectfully urges Singapore nationals residing in the Delhi National Capital Region to heed this advice.

Following the implementation of Stage 4 of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) by the Central Pollution Control Board in Delhi, the Singapore High Commission issued an advisory in response to the deteriorating air quality.

The advisory additionally warned that reduced visibility may interfere with flights to and from Delhi, prompting the Indira Gandhi International Airport and several airlines to issue warnings. Singaporean nationals in the NCR were advised to stay informed of airline updates and to contact the High Commission should they require consular assistance.

Air pollution in Delhi and surrounding regions of the national capital, which had already entered the ‘severe’ category on Saturday, deteriorated further on Sunday as a dense layer of toxic smog enveloped the city and adjacent areas, elevating air quality to hazardous levels and significantly reducing visibility in multiple locations.

Data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) indicated that Delhi’s average air quality index (AQI) increased to 461 at 7 a.m., compared to 431 recorded the previous day.
