Punjab govt launches SOP for colony licensing, ensuring approvals within 60 days, reducing delays, and boosting the real estate sector and job growth.

The Punjab govt has resolved to design a clear Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for awarding licenses to develop colonies, according to a government news release. According to Punjab Housing and Urban Development Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian, the state government’s major decision is intended to stimulate the real estate industry.

According to the Cabinet Minister, the SOP was created by the Housing and Urban Development Department to expedite the licensing procedure for colonies under its control.

Procedure for Granting a License:

Two steps make up the entire process, which must be finished within 60 days of the applicants submitting their applications to the relevant development agencies. The Letter of Intent must be issued within 30 days, and the License must be issued during the next 30 days, as part of the two phases.

The Cabinet Minister admitted that in the past, the promoter license procedure was drawn out and difficult, frequently leading to needless delays by the department’s numerous development authorities.

Particular Schedules for Different Branches

According to Hardeep Singh Mundian, the new SOP has now made the entire process time-bound. According to the press release, there are set deadlines for every department working on the case, including PPCB, PSPCL, Forest, Drainage, NHAI, and PWD, as well as for each division handling the case, such as Planning, Accounts, and Licensing.

According to the minister, all officials must follow these set deadlines, and any unjustified delay will result in disciplinary action against the offending employee.

He added that the Mann Government has already implemented a number of measures in recognition of the real estate industry’s critical role in the state’s economy and its capacity to create jobs. According to him, streamlining the licensing procedure will not only lessen the hassle promoters experience but also provide Punjab’s real estate market with new momentum.
