Punjab Govt releases documentary on Animal Husbandry Department’s heroic rescue and care for livestock during devastating floods across the state.

The Punjab Govt , Punjab Animal Husbandry Department made a documentary about how hard they worked to save and care for animals amid the recent terrible floods in the state. S. Gurmeet Singh Khudian, the Minister for Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, and Dairy Development in Punjab, officially released the documentary. This documentary is especially interesting because it was made by a team of doctors and paramedics from the Animal Husbandry department.

S. Gurmeet Singh Khudian praised the department’s work and said that the Punjab Government and Animal Husbandry Department were steadfast in helping livestock farmers during the flood under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann. He talked about how the department was taking a proactive “mission mode” approach to dealing with the crisis, which was unlike anything else that had ever happened.

S. Khudian said that as many as 713 villages in Punjab were hit by unprecedented destruction. He also pointed out that the department’s 494 dedicated teams braved dangerous conditions to provide life-saving treatment to livestock at their doorsteps by navigating through flooded areas. This helped keep the animals healthy and alive.

He further said that they vaccinated more than 2.53 lakh animals against Haemorrhagic Septicaemia (HS) for free and gave out free medicines worth Rs 37 lakh in the districts that were afflicted. Farmers were also given Mastitis testing kits and dewormers to help them find and treat this prevalent cattle disease more efficiently.

Mr. Rahul Bhandari, the Principal Secretary of Animal Husbandry, talked about the important steps that were done to deal with the impact of the flood. “We were at a high risk of disease outbreaks, but our proactive approach helped lower that risk,” he said. “We started a huge free vaccination campaign in all the impacted villages to keep cattle safe from diseases like HS. We also gave out Uromin Licks and mineral combinations for free to help keep animals healthy because there was a serious lack of green fodder.

Dr. Parmdeep Singh Walia, the head of the Animal Husbandry department, said that the department’s main goal was to safeguard the long-term health and productivity of the livestock, which would benefit both the animals and the farming community as a whole.
