Punjab Govt issues new SOP to fast-track real estate colony licenses within 60 days, boosting housing and urban development efficiency.

Punjab Housing and Urban Development Minister S. Hardeep Singh Mundian said that the government led by Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann has made an important decision to help the real estate sector by creating a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for giving out licenses to build colonies.

S. Hardeep Singh Mundian said that the Housing and Urban Development department made the SOP to make it easier to give out licenses for building colonies in areas where it has control. The process includes two parts: the Letter of Intent must be sent out within 30 days, and the License must be sent out within 30 days. This means that the overall time limit is 60 days from the date the applicant submits their application to the development authority.

The Cabinet Minister said that in the past, the license process for promoters was long and complicated, which often caused development authorities under the department to take longer than necessary. To fix this problem, the department has made a clear SOP. This means that licenses will henceforth be given out within 60 days of receiving an application.

S. Hardeep Singh Mundian noted that the new SOP has made the whole process time-bound. There are set deadlines for each division working on the case, such as Planning, Accounts, and Licensing, as well as for other departments like PPCB, PSPCL, Forest, Drainage, NHAI, and PWD. All officials must follow these set deadlines, and any unnecessary delays will result in disciplinary action against the person in question.

He went on to say that the Mann Government has already taken a number of steps to help the real estate sector, which is important to the State’s economy and has the ability to create jobs. He said that making the licensing procedure easier would not only make things easier for promoters, but it would also help Punjab’s real estate market thrive again.
