CM Bhajan Lal Sharma urges Bengali industrialists to invest in tourism, textiles, renewable energy, and more, citing favorable policies and infrastructure.

Rajasthan CM Bhajan Lal Sharma has urged Bengali industrialists with ancestral ties to Rajasthan to invest in the state, citing a favorable economic climate and a rapidly expanding infrastructural network targeted at attracting new businesses.

Addressing the Pravasi Rajasthani Diwas Roadshow in Calcutta on Tuesday, Sharma stated that the state is overcoming limitations in the supply of electricity and water, thanks to a variety of policy measures that have been implemented.

Recognizing Rajasthani people’s contributions to Bengal’s economic success over the last two centuries, Sharma urged city-based industrialists to return to their roots. “I am here to cement your ties between Janmabhoomi and Karmabhoomi,” Sharma said at the event, which was attended by Shashwat Goenka, vice chairman of RP-SG Group, Umesh Chowdhary, vice chairman and managing director of Titagarh Wagons, Sanjay Budhia, managing director of Patton India, and Harshavardhan Neotia, chairman of Ambuja Neotia Group, among others.

The BJP Chief Minister urged that people with businesses or plants in Bengal establish at least one venture in Rajasthan. “Then you see which of the units makes more profit,” Sharma joked.

He claimed that the state welcomes industry in all areas, but specifically tourism, textiles, mining, renewable energy (solar and wind), oil refining, and petrochemicals, among others.

The Chief Minister encouraged investors to attend the Pravasi Rajasthani Divas, which will be held in Jaipur on December 10. The event will serve as a forum to increase engagement and honor Rajasthanis’ global successes.

In 2024, the state received ₹35 lakh crore investment proposals during the ‘Rising Rajasthan’ investment summit. CM Sharma indicated that around 20% of the idea had already been implemented.

Speaking before the Chief Minister, Goenka stated that the RP-SG Group intends to make significant investments in Rajasthan over the next five years. The Group already has three energy distribution franchises in Kota, Bikaner, and Bharatpur. Earlier this month, the business unveiled a solar module facility near Jaipur.

Chowdhary stated that he has received excellent assistance from the new administration (the BJP swept back to power in 2023, defeating the Congress), and that the concerns surrounding the Bharatpur facility have been handled.
