Chandigarh : In the run-up to the crucial bye-election for the 21-Tarn Taran Assembly seat, five candidates have officially withdrawn their nomination papers. The move, announced by the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Punjab, leaves 15 candidates in the contest ahead of polling day scheduled for November 11, 2025.
According to the CEO’s office, the last day for withdrawal of nominations saw Harpal Singh, Nirmal Kaur, Gurmeet Kaur, Sarika Jorha, and Harpreet Singh pulling out of the race. Earlier, the scrutiny process had validated 20 nomination papers. With these withdrawals, the final list of contestants now stands reduced to 15.
