CM Yogi Adityanath pays tribute to UP Police martyrs, announces welfare schemes, medals, and praises their role in law, order & public safety.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath honored the valian UP Police martyrs on Monday at the Reserve Police Lines in Lucknow during the Police Memorial Day 2025 ceremony. CM Yogi paid tribute to the officers who lost their lives while performing their duties, calling their sacrifices a “invaluable asset” to the country and the state. He claimed that their bravery, commitment, and feeling of obligation serve as an example of public service and continue to motivate future generations.

CM Yogi gave the Uttar Pradesh Police high marks for upholding law and order, reducing crime, and protecting women in trying situations. For FY 2025–2026, the department has been given a budget of Rs 4,061.87 crore, which is 7% more than the previous year.

STF Inspector Sunil Kumar, Chief Constable Durgesh Kumar Singh (Jaunpur), and Constable Saurabh Kumar (Gautam Buddha Nagar) were three policemen who lost their lives while performing their duties in 2024–2025. Their families were given special recognition and promised complete government assistance. A total of Rs 30.70 crore has been given to 96 police officers, including those from neighboring states and the national forces.

The Chief Minister emphasized welfare efforts, such as the advancement of 108 officers and the resolution of 2,511 GPF cases. 234 children of police officers received scholarships totaling Rs 51.10 lakh, with an extra Rs 1.12 crore approved. In 519 medical cases, Rs 11.85 crore was compensated under the Health Security Scheme, while 170 employees received advances of Rs 6.64 crore from the Life Saving Fund. 374 deceased officers’ dependents received insurance payments of Rs 11.86 crore, while 124 dependents received Rs 67.76 crore through the Bank of Baroda’s “Baroda Police Salary Package.”

34 employees were awarded the President’s Gallantry Medal, 11 were awarded the Distinguished Service Medal, and 145 were awarded the Meritorious Service Medal in appreciation of their service. 486 officers received Meritorious Service Medals and 763 officers received Distinguished Service Medals from the Union Home Ministry.

Over 1.52 lakh officers have been promoted and 2.09 lakh workers, including 34,000 women, have been hired by the UP Police since 2017. 60,244 recently hired employees are undergoing continuous training using a hybrid model that combines technical, legal, cybercrime, physical, and AI-based modules.

CM Yogi reiterated his zero-tolerance stance for criminal activity, emphasizing that 257 seasoned criminals had been killed in more over 15,000 encounters and that properties valued at Rs 14,467 crore had been seized. With specialized teams inspecting over one crore sites and taking action against 33,961 criminals, Mission Shakti has been strengthened to improve the safety of women.

The Chief Minister urged all employees to carry out their responsibilities with honesty and commitment, saying, “The Uttar Pradesh Police is the largest and most disciplined police force in the country, serving as the backbone of public safety, trust, and order.”
