CM Yogi Adityanath sends 1,000 quintals of wheat seeds to flood-hit Punjab farmers, highlighting UP’s solidarity, Diwali spirit, and agri-policy success.

Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, reaffirmed his government’s support for the state’s farming community during times of distress on Tuesday by flagging off trucks carrying 1,000 quintals of wheat seeds for farmers in Punjab impacted by recent floods.

The Chief Minister stated that the “true spirit of any festival lies in standing with those in distress” during a speech at his official house before to sending the relief shipment. “The Uttar Pradesh government stands firmly with the farmer-heroes of Punjab in this difficult time,” he continued, extending Diwali blessings.

Yogi commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for making sure the “double-engine government” continuously provides prompt relief, financial assistance, and rehabilitation to residents affected by disasters.

Help for farmers affected by the floods in Punjab

The Chief Minister emphasized Punjab’s crucial role in India’s agricultural independence and pointed out that the intense rains this year ruined standing crops and even seeds that were saved for the following planting season. The Uttar Pradesh Seeds Development Corporation (UPSDC) is shipping 2,500 sacks, or 1,000 quintals, of premium wheat seeds to Punjab in order to aid the impacted farmers.

Yogi remembered that during previous natural catastrophes, Uttar Pradesh has given Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand financial support and relief supplies. During any disaster, he stated, “the state government has always stood—and will continue to stand—with every person in need.”

Nutrient-rich, disease-resistant seeds

The wheat seeds that are being sent are of the “BB-327” or Karan Shivani variety, which is a nutrient-rich, disease-resistant, and bio-fortified strain that can produce up to 80 quintals per hectare in 155 days.

According to the Chief Minister, this program not only helps Punjabi farmers but also showcases the Uttar Pradesh Seeds and Development Corporation’s advancements. “The firm was in bad shape when our government took power. It now makes a net profit of Rs 37 crore in a single year and pays out dividends of Rs 148 crore. This demonstrates how commitment and openness can generate wealth and success,” he continued.

Developing an independent India

Yogi Adityanath emphasized that the foundation of an independent India is made up of farmers and agricultural institutions. Five other seed parks are being constructed throughout the state, and a “Seed Park” in honor of former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh will shortly be established in Lucknow as part of ongoing efforts.

According to him, timely delivery of high-quality seeds lowers production costs and boosts yields, but delays or subpar seeds can result in losses of up to 50%. Uttar Pradesh is making steady progress toward food grain self-sufficiency as a result of the corporation’s efforts.

Uttar Pradesh produces 21% of India’s total food grain output while owning only 11% of the country’s arable land. Yogi attributed this to the state’s farmers’ diligence and the efficacy of its agricultural policy.

A celebration of compassion and light

In addition, the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath  wished everyone a happy Diwali, which falls on the anniversary of the birth of the sixth Sikh Guru, Shri Guru Hargobind Ji Maharaj.

His example encourages selflessness, sacrifice, and kindness. Yogi made a symbolic comparison between the two events when he remarked, “Lamps were lit in joy throughout Punjab when Guru Hargobind Ji Maharaj arrived at Harmandir Sahib, just as they are in Ayodhya to celebrate Lord Ram’s return.”

Agriculture Production Commissioner Deepak Kumar, UPSDC Vice-Chairman Rajeshwar Singh, Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi, Minister of State Baldev Singh Aulakh, former minister and MLC Mahendra Singh, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Sanjay Prasad, Principal Secretary of Agriculture Ravindra Kumar, and other high-ranking officials were present at the event.
