US offers $3,000 and free travel to undocumented immigrants who self-deport by year-end, part of Trump administration’s holiday push
A massive Christmas incentive for undocumented immigrants to voluntarily leave the nation was revealed by the Donald Trump administration in the United States. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is paying illegal aliens $3,000, or around Rs 2,70,738, along with paid travel, if they agree to leave the US by the end of the year. This is the latest attempt to increase mass deportations and reduce enforcement expenses.
“A $3,000 payment and a complimentary return airfare are being offered to illegal aliens who register to self-deport via the CBP (Customs and Border Protection) Home app by the end of the year. Additionally, recipients who use the CBP Home app are eligible to have any civil fines or penalties for not leaving the country waived,” DHS said in a statement.
Team Trump announced a $1,000 payout in May, but the $3,000 stipend is three times that amount. The action is a component of the Trump administration’s holiday-season deportation acceleration effort.

“The best Christmas present an undocumented immigrant can give themselves and their loved ones is self-deportation via the CBP Home app. Simply download the app, enter your information, and DHS will handle everything else, including planning and funding your return trip, according to the DHS statement. It’s a quick, safe, and simple process.
“Those illegal aliens who don’t take advantage of this special offer today have only one alternative: They will be arrested, deported, and they will never be able to return to the United States,” it said.
According to a statement from Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, undocumented immigrants should use the “gift and self-deport because if they don’t, we will find them, we will arrest them, and they will never return.”
DHS reports that since January 2025, tens of thousands of undocumented migrants have used CBP Home, and 1.9 million have willingly self-deported.
