WhatsApp Spoiler Messages Feature : WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new privacy-focused feature called WhatsApp Spoiler Messages, aimed at helping users hide sensitive content inside chats. The upcoming feature is expected to blur selected messages before they are sent, allowing recipients to reveal the content only after tapping on it.

The feature was recently spotted in beta versions of WhatsApp by WABetaInfo, suggesting that testing is already underway and a wider rollout could happen in the near future.

How WhatsApp Spoiler Messages Will Work

According to reports, the WhatsApp Spoiler Messages feature will allow users to manually hide parts of a conversation before sending them.

To use the feature, users may need to:

  • Type or paste a message
  • Long-press and select the text
  • Tap the three-dot menu
  • Choose the “Spoiler” option

Once enabled, the selected message will appear blurred in the chat. The receiver will then have to tap the hidden section to reveal the content.

This approach adds an extra privacy layer, especially in situations where someone else may glance at a user’s screen.

Designed for Sensitive Information

The WhatsApp Spoiler Messages feature could be useful for sharing private or confidential details without exposing them instantly in chats.

Some possible use cases include:

  • One-time passwords (OTPs)
  • Phone numbers
  • Password hints
  • Confidential information
  • Movie or sports spoilers

The feature may also help users avoid accidentally revealing sensitive details in crowded places or active group chats.

Spoiler Support Could Expand to Photos and Videos

At the moment, reports suggest that WhatsApp Spoiler Messages may initially work only for text messages and media captions. However, WhatsApp is reportedly exploring support for photos and videos in future updates.

If introduced, users could send blurred images or videos that remain hidden until tapped by the recipient. This could become particularly useful for sharing sensitive screenshots, personal media, or surprise content privately.

WhatsApp Continues Expanding Privacy Features

Meta Platforms has steadily been adding new privacy tools to WhatsApp over the past few years. The platform already supports features like end-to-end encryption, disappearing messages, screenshot blocking for view-once media, and chat locks.

The addition of WhatsApp Spoiler Messages would further strengthen WhatsApp’s focus on user privacy and controlled content sharing.

No Official Release Date Yet

As of now, WhatsApp has not officially confirmed a release timeline for the feature. Since it has appeared in beta testing, the rollout may first reach selected beta users before becoming available globally.

For users who frequently share private details or simply want more control over how messages appear in chats, the WhatsApp Spoiler Messages feature could become a useful addition once it officially launches.
