Sony has introduced the Sony RX10 V, its latest compact superzoom camera and successor to the RX10 IV, nearly nine years after the previous model. The new camera continues the brand’s all-in-one zoom approach by offering a powerful 24-600mm equivalent lens, allowing photographers to capture wide-angle landscapes as well as distant subjects without changing lenses.
The Sony RX10 V retains the 20.1-megapixel 1-inch stacked sensor from its predecessor but brings major improvements in processing power, autofocus performance, video capabilities, and overall design.
Sony RX10 V Price and Availability
Sony has launched the RX10 V at a price of $2,300 in the US, which translates to approximately Rs 2.19 lakh according to current exchange rates. The company has not yet confirmed the camera’s India launch date or local pricing.
The camera is currently available for pre-order, with shipments expected to begin in August.
Sony RX10 V Features and Specifications
The Sony RX10 V comes equipped with a 9.1-210mm physical lens, offering a 24-600mm equivalent focal range with an aperture of f/2.4-4.0. The camera is designed for travel photographers, wildlife enthusiasts, and event creators who need flexibility from a single lens setup.
The new processor improves burst photography performance, allowing users to shoot at up to 30 frames per second with the electronic shutter without blackout. This is an upgrade over the RX10 IV’s 24fps continuous shooting capability.
The autofocus system has also received significant improvements. It now supports AI-based subject recognition for humans, animals, birds, vehicles, and insects. The camera can track eyes, heads, and full bodies while maintaining focus even when subjects move unpredictably.
Sony has increased the autofocus points from 315 to 575, covering around 70 percent of the sensor area. AF and AE calculations are processed at 60 frames per second for faster and more accurate tracking.

Advanced Video Recording Capabilities
For video creators, the Sony RX10 V offers enhanced recording features, including 4K video recording at up to 60fps in 10-bit colour. The camera supports multiple recording formats such as All-Intra, XAVC S, and XAVC HS while using the full sensor width to reduce image quality loss.
The camera also includes a 4K 120fps slow-motion mode with sensor crop and supports Full HD recording at 240fps. Professional users get features like S-Log3 recording and the ability to store up to 16 LUTs for better colour preview.
Improved Display and Connectivity Options
The RX10 V features a higher-resolution electronic viewfinder with 3.69 million dots and a rear display with 1.62 million dots. However, the screen uses a tilt mechanism instead of a fully flip-out design.
Other connectivity and hardware features include a UHS-II SD card slot, NP-FZ100 battery with up to 630 shots per charge, USB-C port, micro HDMI output, and dedicated microphone and headphone jacks. The camera also supports live streaming in up to 4K 30fps quality.
