Xiaomi has officially expanded its audio lineup with the launch of the Redmi Buds 8 in China. Positioned in the budget segment, these true wireless stereo (TWS) earbuds bring an impressive mix of high-end features, including Hi-Res Audio support, active noise cancellation, and AI-powered enhancements—making them stand out in their price category.

Alongside the Redmi Buds 8, Xiaomi also unveiled several other products, including the Redmi K90 Max, Redmi K Pad 2, and Redmi Book Pro 2026, signaling a broader push across product categories.

Price and Availability

The Redmi Buds 8 are priced at CNY 229 (approximately Rs. 3,100), making them an attractive option for budget-conscious buyers. They are currently available in China via official Xiaomi channels in three colour options: cyan, dusk black, and white. There is no confirmation yet on global or India availability.

Focus on Audio Quality

At the heart of the Redmi Buds 8 are 11mm dynamic drivers, designed to deliver powerful and detailed sound. The earbuds support a wide frequency response range from 20Hz to 40kHz and come with Hi-Res Audio Wireless certification, highlighting their capability for high-fidelity audio playback.

The inclusion of LHDC codec support, along with standard SBC and AAC codecs, ensures that the Redmi Buds 8 can deliver richer audio with reduced compression on compatible devices.

ANC and Smarter Call Clarity

One of the standout features of the Redmi Buds 8 is its advanced active noise cancellation, which can reduce noise levels by up to 50dB. Users can switch between multiple ANC modes, including depth, balanced, light, and adaptive, depending on their surroundings.

For calls, the earbuds use a triple-microphone setup combined with AI-driven noise cancellation. This system is designed to minimize wind noise effectively, even in challenging outdoor conditions.

Additionally, the Redmi Buds 8 offer multiple transparency modes, such as regular, enhanced vocals, and environmental modes, allowing users to stay aware of their surroundings when needed.

Connectivity and Smart Features

The Redmi Buds 8 support Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity, offering a stable connection range of up to 10 metres. They also include modern smart features like dual-device pairing, seamless switching, and audio sharing.

Through the Xiaomi Headphones app, users can customise controls and gestures. Features like single-touch photography and gesture-based commands add convenience for everyday use.

Battery Life and Durability

Battery performance is another strong point for the Redmi Buds 8. Each earbud houses a 54mAh battery, while the charging case packs a 475mAh unit.

According to Xiaomi, the earbuds can deliver up to 11 hours of playback on a single charge without ANC, and up to 44 hours with the charging case. With ANC enabled, users can expect around 6.5 hours on the earbuds and up to 28 hours combined.

Charging is handled via a USB Type-C port, and the earbuds come with an IP54 rating for resistance against dust and water. In terms of weight, each earbud weighs about 5 grams, while the full set comes in at approximately 44.5 grams.

A New Benchmark for Budget Audio?

With features like Hi-Res Audio Wireless certification, strong ANC performance, and AI-enhanced call clarity, the Redmi Buds 8 appear to push the boundaries of what users can expect from budget wireless earbuds.

If these features perform as promised in real-world use, the Redmi Buds 8 could significantly reshape expectations in the affordable audio segment.
