Motorola has officially introduced the Motorola Edge 70 Pro in India, expanding its premium smartphone lineup with a feature-packed device focused on performance, battery life, and advanced camera capabilities. The new smartphone arrives in three Pantone-curated colour options and brings a compelling mix of hardware and design aimed at power users.

Price and availability

The Motorola Edge 70 Pro is priced at Rs. 38,999 for the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage variant, while the 12GB + 256GB model costs Rs. 41,999. Buyers can avail of an instant discount of up to Rs. 2,000 using Axis Bank or HDFC Bank cards, or opt for an exchange bonus of up to Rs. 2,000.

The device will go on sale starting April 29 and will be available in Pantone Lilly White, Pantone Tea, and Pantone Titan finishes.

Display and software

The Motorola Edge 70 Pro features a large 6.8-inch Extreme AMOLED display with a Super HD resolution of 1,272 x 2,772 pixels. It supports a 144Hz refresh rate for smoother visuals and offers an impressive peak brightness of up to 5,200 nits. Additional features include a 360Hz touch sampling rate, HDR10+ support, and 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage. SGS certifications for reduced blue light and motion blur further enhance the viewing experience.

On the software side, the smartphone runs Android 16-based Hello UI. Motorola has committed to providing up to three years of OS updates and security patches for the Motorola Edge 70 Pro.

Performance and build quality

Powering the Motorola Edge 70 Pro is the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Extreme chipset, paired with up to 12GB LPDDR5x RAM and 256GB UFS 4.1 storage. The device is designed to handle intensive tasks efficiently, aided by a vapour chamber cooling system that helps manage heat during heavy usage.

Camera capabilities

The Motorola Edge 70 Pro offers a triple rear camera setup led by a 50-megapixel Sony LYT-710 primary sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS). It also includes a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera with a 122-degree field of view and autofocus. Details about the third sensor have not been disclosed yet.

On the front, the smartphone features a 50-megapixel selfie camera with autofocus, making it suitable for high-quality selfies and video calls. The device supports video recording at up to 4K resolution at 60fps.

Battery and connectivity

The Motorola Edge 70 Pro is backed by a massive 6,500mAh battery, supporting 90W wired fast charging and 5W reverse wired charging. This ensures long-lasting performance and the ability to charge other devices when needed.

Connectivity options include 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, and a USB Type-C port. The device also supports GPS, GLONASS, and Galileo navigation systems.

Additional sensors include a proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, accelerometer, gyroscope, and e-compass. The phone measures 162.7 x 75.6 x 6.99mm and weighs approximately 183g.
