Chandigarh: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday unveiled the state’s Uttarakhand Budget 2026, describing the ₹1.11 lakh crore financial plan as a roadmap balancing development, heritage, culture, and modernisation.
Addressing the press, Dhami emphasized that the Uttarakhand Budget 2026 is more than a financial statement; it is a blueprint for comprehensive growth aligned with India’s broader vision of development. “The budget reflects a balanced approach to development, heritage, and culture, marking a strong step towards a developed Uttarakhand,” said the Chief Minister.
Economic Growth and Fiscal Discipline Highlighted in Uttarakhand Budget 2026
Dhami highlighted that Uttarakhand’s economy has grown remarkably from ₹14,500 crore at state formation to nearly ₹3.81 lakh crore today. The per capita income has surged from ₹15,285 in 2000–01 to an estimated ₹2,73,921 in 2025–26. The state’s real growth rate for the current year is projected at 7.23%, close to the national average.

He also underlined fiscal discipline under the Uttarakhand Budget 2026, noting the state has maintained a revenue surplus while keeping the fiscal deficit below 3% of GSDP, in line with the Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management Act.
Focus on Social Welfare and Women Empowerment
The Uttarakhand Budget 2026 allocates ₹1,327 crore for social security pension schemes, ₹1,300 crore for food security, and ₹298 crore for rural housing under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, with ₹56 crore for urban housing initiatives.
Women’s empowerment receives special attention with a gender budget of ₹19,692 crore to support schemes like Saksham Anganwadi, Poshan 2.0, Mukhyamantri Mahalakshmi Kit, Eija-Boi Shagun Yojana, and Nanda Gaura Yojana.
Education, Skill Development, Agriculture, and Infrastructure
Education and sports sectors are allocated ₹11,871 crore, while skill development programs receive ₹586 crore to boost employment opportunities for youth. Agriculture and horticulture sectors receive ₹1,113 crore, and ₹815 crore is earmarked for animal husbandry, dairy, and fisheries.

Infrastructure development under the Uttarakhand Budget 2026 includes ₹2,501 crore for the public works department, ₹1,609 crore for energy, and ₹1,642 crore for minor irrigation projects.
New Initiatives in Uttarakhand Budget 2026
Dhami announced several new initiatives in the Uttarakhand Budget 2026, including:
- ₹1,027 crore for preparations for Kumbh Mela
- ₹15 crore for cyber security initiatives
- ₹18.5 crore for eco-tourism infrastructure
- ₹10 crore for a spiritual economic zone
- ₹13 crore to promote artificial intelligence and emerging technologies
Additionally, the budget encourages agricultural innovation and entrepreneurship through kiwi and dragon fruit cultivation, trout fish farming, apple nursery development, and youth-focused programs like Mukhyamantri Yuva Bhavishya Nirman Yojana.
The Uttarakhand Budget 2026 reflects a vision that balances economic growth with social welfare, infrastructure development, and cultural preservation. Chief Minister Dhami reiterated that the budget is designed to ensure that all sections of society, especially farmers, youth, and women, benefit from the state’s growth trajectory.
