Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami wishes citizens a joyful Lohri, emphasizing unity, harvest celebrations, and farmers’ contributions.
Dehradun: In honor of the Lohri festival, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his greetings to the state’s citizens particularly the Punjabis.
“This festival signifies the arrival of a new harvest, gratitude towards nature, and mutual brotherhood,” the Chief Minister stated in a statement released on the eve of Lohri.
Our folk festivals give our lives fresh vitality, the CM stated in an official statement. He added that he hoped everyone’s life will be filled with joy, wealth, and well-being as a result of this event.
It has been our tradition to celebrate all festivals and occasions with mutual cooperation and harmony,” stated the chief minister.
Lohri, Makar Sankranti, Pongal, and Magh Bihu will be observed on January 13 and 14. Earlier today, President Droupadi Murmu sent her heartfelt greetings to people in India and outside.
The President wrote in a message, “On the auspicious occasion of Lohri, Makar Sankranti, Pongal and Magh Bihu festivals, I extend my heartfelt greetings to all Indians residing within India and abroad.”These celebrations stand for both our unity as a nation and our rich agricultural heritage. They represent the rich and varied cultural legacy we have. These celebrations provide as a chance to honor the dedication of our farmers, who toil day and night to provide food for the country. We honor Mother Nature by celebrating these events all throughout the nation,” she continued.
After the yearly harvest, the community celebrates Magh Bihu, a significant harvest festival in Assam, with feasts to mark the end of the harvesting season in the month of Magh.
It symbolizes the various ways harvest holidays are observed throughout India, along with Lohri, Pongal, Sankranti, and Uttarayan.
Bonfires, traditional dishes, and folk melodies are hallmarks of Lohri celebrations, especially in northern India, bringing coziness and happiness to the joyous occasion.
