UP CM Yogi Adityanath highlights Chhath Puja as a festival of social unity, spiritual upliftment, and ancient Indian heritage in Lucknow.

Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, declared on Monday that the Chhath Puja is more than just a celebration and is a “symbol of ancient heritage of India.”

Speaking in the Bhojpuri dialect, he welcomed the audience to a program held in honor of Chhath Puja at Chhath Ghat in Laxman Mela Maidan in Lucknow.

Adityanath stated, “This festival is not a gathering; rather, it is a symbol of our social unity, spiritual upliftment, and ancient Indian heritage.”

“This festival teaches harmony with nature,” the chief minister remarked, adding that it is hard to find instances of such gatherings in the globe.

According to him, the Gomti river will remain pure between Pilibhit and Ghazipur and will not get any drainage or sewage from Lucknow.

He praised the four days of intense devotion, particularly the women’s penance, and claimed that the festival is associated with both public welfare and household prosperity.

According to him, this custom, which dates back thousands of years, has now expanded throughout India. Millions of devotees are taking part from eastern Uttar Pradesh to western areas, Adityanath continued.

He gave the cities of Ghaziabad and Noida as examples, stating that between 50,000 and 1 lakh devotees celebrate Chhath there.

“Devotees are connected in every temple, pond, and lake, and this unity is not only cultural but also conveys a message of national solidarity,” he continued.

The “festival connects us and strengthens social bonds,” according to Adityanath. He went on to say that a nation cannot progress until its people are aware of their national responsibilities.

He connected Chhath to the Swachh Bharat Mission, saying that this program, which was started in 2014, has grown to be the cornerstone of environmental protection under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s direction.

Additionally, he called on people to cease using single-use plastic and polythene carelessly, to remove pollution sources, and to refrain from disposing of rubbish in drains or waterways.

More than half of the issue will be resolved if everyone complies with this. “Every citizen has a duty to maintain cleanliness, not just the administration,” the chief minister stated.

Chhath Puja Highlights Social Unity and Spiritual Heritage

He asserted that the country cannot advance unless its inhabitants carry out their national responsibilities, and that such cooperation will contribute to the realization of the goal of an advanced, independent India.

The Gomti River has experienced complaints of low water levels and an unpleasant odor for the last two years, but this time around things have improved because of the administration’s, the irrigation department’s, the municipal corporation’s, and volunteer organizations’ efforts, Adityanath stated.

He said that the river’s water is now ample and clean after meetings were held a month ago and a cleanliness push was carried out by the Akhil Bhartiya Bhojpuri Samaj.

How can God accept water presented in ritual (arghya) if it is not pure? The river needs to be clean, just like the house of worship. No sewage or drainage from Lucknow will enter the Gomti in a year or two and a half. He declared that between Pilibhit and Ghazipur, the river will be unadulterated and pristine.

After the festival tomorrow morning, the chief minister urged followers to organize a cleanliness campaign. He went on to say that everyone living in Lucknow and the state has a responsibility to fulfill this national obligation.

According to a government statement, the Chief Minister greeted everyone and spoke about the custom of celebrating Chhath from homes to riverbanks.

Additionally, it stated that he prayed to Chhathi Maiya to grant everyone’s wishes and to provide joy and success to families and society as a whole.
