UP CM Yogi Adityanath orders advanced tech, permanent staff, and strict measures for ANTF to curb drug trafficking and strengthen law enforcement.

Lucknow: To increase the effectiveness and capability of the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued directions. He stated during a review meeting on Wednesday that plans for special training and the permanent deployment of critical personnel, such as inspectors, sub-inspectors, computer operators, and constables, should be finished as soon as possible in all six police stations and eight units of the force.

To guarantee quick and precise operations, he ordered that the squad be outfitted with cutting-edge technological resources, digital tracking systems, and contemporary gadgets. The Chief Minister emphasized that the court allocation process for the proposed police stations must be finished as soon as possible in order to guarantee prompt hearings and severe punishment for violators. Additionally, he emphasized the necessity of creating permanent structures for every ANTF police station.

The Chief Minister claimed that improved infrastructure and resources will speed up operations and improve their results, enabling the state to more effectively eradicate the drug network at its source.

Significant progress has been made since the establishment of ANTF, according to information presented during the conference. 310 instances between 2023 and 2025
were reported, 883 traffickers were taken into custody, and 35,313 kg of illicit drugs were confiscated. The material that was confiscated is estimated to be worth more than ₹343 crore.

The review also found that mafias and large networks had been targeted in addition to routine operations. Over the last three years, 2,61,391 kg of illicit drugs worth around ₹775 crore have been lawfully destroyed. According to the Chief Minister, the disposal procedure must to be carried out consistently and openly.

The Chief Minister underlined that combating narcotics is a shared social obligation as well as an issue of law and order. To prevent drugs from reaching young people, families, educational institutions, civil organizations, and the government must collaborate. He remarked that Uttar Pradesh must send a strong message to criminals that the illegal drug trade will not be accepted.
