UP Government Plans to Convene Winter Session in December
The Uttar Pradesh government is preparing for the UP winter session of the state legislature, which is likely to take place in the second or third week of December 2025. Officials confirmed that key discussions are underway, and the final decision will be taken soon. Moreover, the government may present the first supplementary budget for the 2025–26 financial year during this session.
The finance department has already started initial groundwork for the supplementary budget. Additionally, officials expect the session to include several legislative actions and the tabling of ordinances issued after the monsoon session. This will help the government clear pending matters before the next budget cycle.
A senior BJP leader said that ministers and legislators remain occupied with the ongoing Special Intensive Revision exercise in all 403 constituencies. However, the winter session remains a priority. He added that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will make the final call soon. The leader also hinted that discussions linked to the revision drive could be held during the winter session.
Preparations for the Supplementary Budget in Full Swing
Although Finance Minister Suresh Khanna did not comment on the matter, he indicated that an official statement will be made only after detailed consultations with the chief minister. Meanwhile, the finance department continues its preparatory work. This preparation suggests strong internal signals that the winter session may begin in December, as expected.
The supplementary budget is expected to support ongoing state projects. Furthermore, it may allocate extra funds for development programs that require timely completion. Since the state assembly elections are set for early 2027, the government wants to maintain progress on infrastructure and welfare projects throughout 2026. Additionally, the government may introduce new schemes to boost its development agenda.
