UP govt boosts festive travel with extra buses, staff incentives, safety checks, and better facilities from Oct 18–30 for Diwali, Bhai Dooj & Chhath.

festive travel :  The Uttar Pradesh government is making a lot of plans to make sure that people can travel safely and easily during big holidays like Diwali, Bhai Dooj, and Chhath. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has told them to do this. Officials have been told to make sure that as many buses as possible run during the “incentive period,” which runs from October 18 to October 30, 2025.

Dayashankar Singh, the Minister of State for Transport (Independent Charge), said that because there will be a lot of people traveling during the festivals, more buses will run from Delhi to key eastern Uttar Pradesh cities like Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Ayodhya, and Kanpur. Also, there will be more buses for Ghaziabad, Meerut, Moradabad, Bareilly, Saharanpur, Agra, Aligarh, and Etawah.

He further added that making sure that lakhs of people from eastern UP may come home smoothly and without any problems during the Chhath festival is a high priority for the government. The transport minister has also made it plain that all company buses must be on the road throughout this time. He stressed that no bus that isn’t safe should be driven at any time.

There have been orders to make sure that bus components, spare parts, and other important tools are always on hand. He also said that bus stations should be clean and have drinking water, seating, digital schedules, and help desks for passengers’ convenience.

The state government has set up a program that will provide drivers, conductors, and other workers who work during the incentive period more money. Mr. Prabhu Narayan Singh, the Managing Director of the State Transport Corporation, said that drivers and conductors who work for 12 days and drive an average of 300 km per day will get an extra Rs 400 per day, for a total of Rs 4800.

If an employee works for 13 days straight and meets the criterion, they would get Rs 450 per day, which adds up to Rs 5850. Contractual drivers and conductors will get an extra Rs 0.55 per km for going over the standard distance. For 13 days of work in a row, workshop employees will get a one-time bonus of Rs 2,500, and for 12 days, they will get Rs 2,100.

Regional managers will get Rs 10,000 for doing a great job, service managers will get Rs 5,000, and assistant regional managers would get extra rewards dependent on how many buses they are in charge of.

The transport minister also said that throughout the incentive period, enforcement teams must check on a frequent basis and make sure that all drivers and conductors do breathalyzer tests to make sure they are safe to drive.
