UP CM Yogi Adityanath pays tribute to Sardar Patel’s legacy, unveils plans for 150th birth anniversary celebrations, including a “Run for Unity” and national events.

UP CM Yogi Adityanath announced events to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the first deputy prime minister and home minister of independent India. Adityanath attributed the united India that is witnessed by all to Patel.

“Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was not only a towering freedom fighter, but also the architect of a united India.” The chief minister stated at a press conference that the integration of more than 500 princely states into the Republic of India was a result of his unparalleled leadership and resolve, which significantly influenced the modern nation we know today.

Despite the opposition of certain princely states, including Hyderabad and Junagadh, Sardar Patel’s unwavering commitment to India’s unity and integrity guaranteed their incorporation into the country. Adityanath referred to him as the “Iron Man of India.”

“The “Sardar @150 Unity March” will be scheduled from October 31 to November 26 as part of the nationwide celebration.” “In each Lok Sabha constituency, a three-day padyatra will be conducted, which will encompass all Vidhan Sabha segments and span 8-10 km,” he further stated.

Five youth representatives, including athletes and artists, will participate in this voyage from each district of the state. The participants will travel by bus through four main centers to Karamsad, Gujarat, the birthplace of Sardar Patel. They will then participate in a 150-kilometer national padayatra from Karamsad to Kevadia, the location of the Statue of Unity. This march will attract thousands of young people from all over the country.

At the press conference, the state BJP chief Bhupendra Chaudhary, deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak, and finance minister Suresh Khanna of Uttar Pradesh were all in attendance. Furthermore, in order to increase awareness of Sardar Patel’s legacy and his role in fostering national unity, seminars, street performances, and essay and debate competitions will be implemented at the local level.

The 150th birth anniversary of Patel will be commemorated on October 31 with the organization of a “Run for Unity” throughout Uttar Pradesh. In addition, the state will implement youth-centric initiatives, including the ‘Vocal for Local’ and ‘Local for Global‘ campaigns, as well as yoga and health programs. Additionally, a unique initiative to promote sanitation will be implemented. Wreath-laying and tribute programs at the statues of Sardar Patel will be organized by local committees, social organizations, and cultural groups during the padayatra.

The chief minister also announced that cultural programs will be organized to commemorate the life and vision of Patel in order to continue the effort to establish a self-sufficient India from a united India. All participants will receive certificates. Ministers, MPs, MLAs, party activists, NCC and NSS members, and organizations such as Mai Bharat will actively participate in the campaign.

The chief minister observed that India has observed Sardar Patel’s birth anniversary as National Unity Day since 2014, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Each year, the Bharatiya Janata Party has also organized the “Run for Unity” to commemorate Sardar Patel’s legacy. In order to maintain this custom, a Run for Unity will be conducted throughout the state and the nation on October 31.
