Satpal Maharaj met CM Yogi Adityanath in Lucknow seeking approval for the Iqbalpur Canal, Banbasa Barrage restoration, and improved water availability at Shukratal Ghat.

At Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath home in Lucknow, State Minister of Tourism, Religious Affairs, Culture, Panchayati Raj, Public Works, Irrigation, Rural Construction, and Watershed Management Satpal Maharaj paid him a courtesy call. He made requests for approval during the meeting to restore the Banbasa Barrage, build the Iqbalpur Canal in the Haridwar district, and provide sufficient water supply at Shukratal Ghat.

Maharaj met with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday in his capacity as the State Irrigation Minister and the Minister in charge of the Haridwar district. He asked for permission to build the Iqbalpur Canal in order to address the issue of declining groundwater levels in Bhagwanpur and the surrounding districts. According to him, this canal would help farmers a lot and advance regional development.

Maharaj also asked the Chief Minister to give officials the instructions they need to move two canals from Haridwar to Uttarakhand and to undertake major repairs for the Banbasa Barrage in Champawat district.

Maharaj also urged the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister to take action to improve water availability at the holy Shukratal Ghat, which is situated in Muzaffarnagar district on the banks of the Solani and Ban Ganga rivers. This will ensure that there is enough water available for religious ceremonies and important festivals that are held there.
