Bihar CM Nitish Kumar made a surprise inspection at Patna Secretariat, ordering strict discipline, and distributed ₹1,000 crore to 10 lakh Jeevika Didis.
New Delhi : On Friday, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar paid an unexpected inspection visit to Patna’s Mukhya Sachivalaya, or Chief Secretariat. The Bihar chief minister made a tour of the Treasury, the Cabinet Room, the Finance Minister’s Office, and the Guest Room, among other Secretariat departments.
The officials received disciplinary orders from Nitish, who said that all staff members should appreciate punctuality and operate with discipline. In addition, the chief minister of Bihar emphasized the value of cleanliness.
Principal Secretary Deepak Kumar, Chief Secretary Pratyay Amrit, Development Commissioner Dr. S. Siddharth, Additional Chief Secretary of the General Administration Department Dr. B. Rajendra, and Secretary to the Chief Minister Anupam Kumar were among those who accompanied Nitish.
Under Jeevika Didis, Nitish distributes 1,000 crore to 10 lakh women.
As part of the state’s Jeevika Didis program, the chief minister also distributed Rs 1,000 crore to the 10 lakh women participating in the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana.
Recently, Nitish was elected to a historic fifth consecutive term in office. Through the DBT system, Nitish distributed Rs 10,000 to each beneficiary from his official residence as part of the Jeevika Didis initiative.
Rural Development Minister Shravan Kumar told reporters during the event, “A total of 1.56 crore women have received the money so far.”

“The recipients are being urged to use the money for independent work. He continued, “Those who do so will eventually receive additional aid of Rs 2 lakh each.”
The minister was also questioned about claims that personnel who filled out papers were requesting bribes from applicants and complaints from women who enrolled for the program but had not received the funds.
He retorted, “The program explicitly states that aid applicants need to register with a local Jeevika self-help group. Those who haven’t done so will benefit from being convinced to take the necessary action.
“Allegations of corruption are being made by Opposition parties like RJD and Jan Suraaj Party, which showed no scruples in demanding Rs 20,000 from those who wished to join the outfits,” he stated.
