Head Post Office introduces 24-hour Speed Post booking; Aadhaar and passport services expanded with new counters for public convenience.

Residents no longer have to rush to schedule Speed Post and packages between 9 am and 5 pm. In order to offer 24-hour booking services, the Postal Department opened a dedicated counter at the Head Post Office in the Cantonment region. The public can now make reservations at any time, day or night, thanks to this new facility.

Put Convenience and Crowd Control First

After the Post Forum Advisory Committee met for the first time on Tuesday at the Head Post Office, the 24-hour service was launched. The Head Post Office’s Senior Postmaster, RC Rana, gave an explanation of the initiative’s justification. He pointed out that the majority of the office’s workload is made up of parcel reservations. Long lines and connectivity problems during the day are also a result of the greater reliance on Speed Post after Registered Post was discontinued.

Employees will now work both day and night shifts to handle this. The facilities will be especially helpful during the holiday season, R Rana said. It is intended to assist attorneys, businesspeople, and salaried individuals whose hectic schedules prevent them from visiting the post office during regular business hours.

Committee Rulings Regarding Passports and Aadhaar

Other significant decisions to improve services were made at the advisory committee meeting:

Aadhaar Services: The Meerut Aadhaar counter will offer facilities for Aadhaar enrollment for people who are at least eighteen years old. This will be supported by the installation of two more counters.

Passport Services: There will be four extension counters instead of only two for passport services.

Infrastructure: Renovating and repainting Postal Department buildings was decided upon.
