Since 2017, UP CM Yogi Adityanath said major festivals including Holi, Eid, and Diwali have been celebrated peacefully across the state, reflecting the government’s commitment to harmony.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has sent a harsh warning to anyone who tries to disrupt peace and harmony in the state as Diwali approaches. The Chief Minister stressed that his government will not put up with any unrest and that anyone who tries to ruin the celebratory mood will be arrested right away. CM Yogi said that keeping the peace is his government’s top priority and that anyone who causes trouble during the next festival season will be punished.

Yogi Adityanath said again at a meeting before Diwali that the state administration is still committed to making sure that all communities can celebrate in peace and safety. The Chief Minister said, “If anyone tries to ruin the fun and excitement of this festival, the bars of the jail will be waiting for them. No matter who they are, they will be put behind bars right away.”

The Chief Minister of UP also told officials that they need to be vigilant and take action to keep the peace, especially in sensitive areas. He told the police and district officials to patrol often, keep an eye on social media, and act quickly against rumors or calls to violence.
“No leniency for rioters”

CM Yogi said that since 2017, his government has done a good job of keeping the peace during the major holidays, such as Holi, Eid, and Diwali, in Uttar Pradesh. “People should celebrate and have festivals in a peaceful and harmonious way.” He remarked, “This is not a government that gives in to rioters anymore.”

He also talked about what he said in September, when he said that any act of anarchy or community provocation will lead to punishment “so severe that future generations will remember it.”

As the state gets ready for Diwali celebrations next week, Yogi Adityanath’s comments come at a time when security is being stepped up and surveillance is being increased in important towns like Lucknow, Varanasi, Ayodhya, and Kanpur.
