New Delhi, August 28 — A Chinese national, identified as Alice Li (alias Li Tengli), was arrested in Greater Noida on Wednesday in connection with a major GST evasion case worth over ₹9 crore. Li is employed with Ten Tech LED Display Pvt Ltd, a company based in Greater Noida, which is now under investigation by the Central GST Department.
According to officials, Li was arrested along with the company’s managing director Vinay Kumar. The arrests were made after investigators found evidence of systematic tax evasion through misfiling of GST returns. Both were produced before a Meerut court on Wednesday and were remanded to judicial custody until September 1.
Outburst at Journalists Caught on Camera
The arrest took an unusual turn when Li was being escorted to court. A video that surfaced on social media showed Li aggressively confronting journalists outside the court premises.

In the footage, Li can be seen lunging at a journalist recording her while shouting angrily in Chinese. She even opened the car door forcefully in an attempt to stop media coverage. Another woman present in the car attempted to calm her down.
A lawyer accompanying the group stepped in and urged reporters not to escalate the situation, saying: “Please stop recording, the matter is heated.” Despite attempts to pacify her, Li continued to lash out at journalists, further fueling online discussions once the video went viral.

According to Special Public Prosecutor Lakshya Kumar Singh, officials of the Central GST Department uncovered the alleged fraud during an audit of Ten Tech LED Display Pvt Ltd. Investigations revealed that Li and Vinay Kumar allegedly filed returns under incorrect tax categories, causing a revenue loss of approximately ₹9.19 crore to the exchequer.
The probe indicates deliberate misrepresentation of tax liabilities, pointing to a structured attempt at evasion. Following the discovery, both accused were booked and presented before Special Chief Judicial Magistrate Durgesh Nandini’s court in Meerut, which ordered judicial custody.
