UP man body dropped from ambulance on Highway in protest over assault death
In a shocking protest in Uttar Pradesh Gonda’s district, grieving family members of a man who died after a violent assault dropped his body from a moving ambulance onto a national highway, demanding justice for his death.
The deceased Hriday Lal was reportedly attacked on Friday in a liquor related dispute and severely beaten. He was rushed to Lucknow for treatment but unfortunately died due to his injuries. Lal had been married just 2 months ago, adding emotional weights of the tragedy.
On Monday, while his body was being taken to Post-mortem in an ambulance, his family stopped the vehicle and laid the body on the road in protest.
A video gone viral about the incident displayed the lifeless body being dragged for a little before being placed on the highway. Soon, family members and several local residents gathered around the body, sat by the road, and tried to block traffic to draw attention to the case.
Police officials at the scene managed to control the situation, removing the body and convincing the protesters to allow roads to be opened. The last rites were later performed under police vigilance.
The protest brings up yet again growing frustrations about the law and order and the delays in justice in some parts of Uttar Pradesh.
