Rajasthan CM Bhajan Lal Sharma directs tough measures to stop rising road accidents, orders crackdown on rash driving and illegal roadside setups.

CM Bhajan Lal Sharma, has spoken out strongly against the rise in traffic accidents in the state. After the terrible disaster in Jodhpur, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma attended a high-level meeting on Monday. During this time, the CM told all the departments to make a detailed plan to stop the accidents, and no one should get away with being careless. The Chief Minister remarked that drivers who flout the laws often should have their licenses taken away. People who have built on land near the highway should have their work taken down right away. The authorities should eliminate illegal cutting and take rigorous action against overloading.

Taking action against officials for being careless

Bhajan Lal Sharma remarked that the policy of zero tolerance will mean that stern punishment will be taken against departmental officers and staff who don’t act quickly enough. The Chief Minister further added that anybody who don’t inspect the eyes of the officers or physicians driving the car will also face disciplinary action. He told the police and transportation departments that all drivers of big vehicles must pass a visual test.

Going too fast all the time will be heavy.

The Chief Minister told the Transport and Police Department that they should promptly suspend the licenses of drivers who fast or drive after drinking alcohol more than once. He suggested that the road safety campaign should focus on quickly fixing the state’s black spots and putting an end to unlawful cutting on national and state roadways. There were also orders to keep a closer eye on the highways between Jaipur and Delhi, Jaipur and Ajmer, Jaipur and Kota, and Jaipur and Mumbai.

The Chief Minister added that transport companies should be held responsible for overcrowding and speeding on certain routes, and that the companies that are found to be at fault should be punished. The Chief Minister indicated that winter fog makes it more probable that road accidents may happen. So, the work of putting reflectors on all the roadways, fixing the road, and cleaning the sides should be done right away. He also told the district officials to finish all the tasks relating to road safety by November 15.

Taking down illegal dhabas on roads

Bhajan Lal Sharma urged that unlawful dhabas, truck parking, and shops along the national and state highways should be taken down right away. He told the NHAI and the local government to start taking down all unlawful buildings along the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor right away. The Chief Minister told the Medical and Health Department to create plans to quickly move the injured people from road accidents to a life support ambulance.

No entry zones have very severe rules.

The Chief Minister emphasized that heavy vehicles should not be allowed to enter any of the state’s no-entry zones. He told the Jaipur Police Commissioner to make the traffic system even better at night. The CM indicated that the police will have more people and resources to help make the traffic system in the capital stronger. He suggested that both drivers and their organizations should be punished for breaking traffic laws. The Chief Minister indicated that the state government will acknowledge the people who helped the injured in car accidents. He said that it should be required to explain the requirements when getting or renewing a driver’s license.
