The formal announcement of the new BJP national president is scheduled for January 20, 2026. Nitin Nabin, a five-time MLA from Bihar, was appointed as the working president on December 14, 2025, but his formal assumption of office was delayed due to Kharmas (inauspicious timing), which ended on January 14.

Since becoming working president, Nitin Nabin has toured multiple states, meeting party workers and leaders. He has also held several key organizational positions in the BJP, including serving as Bihar president of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha.
