SIT arrests two in Punjab’s 328 missing Saroops case, raids 14 locations, seizes laptops, tablets, and financial records during ongoing probe.
The 328 missing Saroops case is being investigated by the Special Investigation Team (SIT), which has detained two people, searched 14 places, and confiscated storage devices, laptops and peripherals, tablets, mobile devices, and incriminating financial records and documents.
The FIR filed in Police Station C-Division, Commissionerate Amritsar, names 16 people in total, according to a SIT spokeswoman. Fourteen people are being investigated, and two accused people have reportedly passed away. Kanwaljit Singh, also known as Kawaljit Singh, and Satinder Singh Kohli have been taken into custody in this case thus far.
According to the spokesperson, on March 1, 2026, Kanwaljit Singh, also known as Kawaljit Singh, was taken into custody. As an assistant, he was directly responsible for major anomalies in religious scripture handling, maintenance, and unauthorized scripture preparation and storage.

In Punjab and Chandigarh, search activities have been carried out at 14 places, including two in Chandigarh, eight in Amritsar City, and one each in Gurdaspur, Ropar, Tarn Taran, and Amritsar Rural, the official continued. During the searches, incriminating bank records and paperwork were found along with seven cell phones, three tablets, two computers, and one storage device.
While the seized documents and financial records are being examined for payments made by businesses connected to a number of individuals, including politicians, the confiscated electronic devices will undergo forensic analysis.
In a methodical and careful manner, the SIT is gathering evidence and conducting investigations. It is probable that further arrests and searches will occur. There are still investigations underway.
