Punjab Urban Development Initiatives Boost Infrastructure, Public Health, and Civic Services

Punjab :   Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora held a press conference today to provide key updates on urban development across the state. The session focused on the Punjab Urban Development Initiatives, which aim to accelerate infrastructure projects, improve civic services, and enhance public welfare.

Minister Arora announced that the One-Time Settlement (OTS) period has been extended until April 30, 2026, allowing citizens additional time for compliance. He also highlighted that house tax collection for 2025-26 exceeded ₹600 crore. As part of the Punjab Urban Development Initiatives, a total of 2,120 km of roads across all municipal corporations will be renovated at a cost of ₹1,300 crore, significantly improving urban connectivity.

Punjab Urban Development Initiatives Strengthen Fire Services, Sewage Systems, and Water Treatment

Discussing further measures, Minister Arora noted, “The approval process for building plans has been simplified and accelerated. Additionally, ₹131 crore will be spent on modernizing the fire department infrastructure, including the construction of 13 new fire stations. Sewage systems will be cleaned before the monsoon season, and 30 new water treatment plants will be established at a cost of ₹800 crore.” These steps reflect the government’s commitment to efficient urban management under the Punjab Urban Development Initiatives.

He also emphasized health measures under the Punjab Urban Development Initiatives, stating that fogging operations to prevent dengue will begin within the next 10 days, safeguarding residents during the monsoon season.

Minister Arora concluded that the Punjab Urban Development Initiatives represent a comprehensive effort to enhance infrastructure, public health, and civic services, ensuring better quality of life for all residents in Punjab.
