Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Sandhwan says naming Sahibzadas’ martyrdom as Veer Bal Diwas is inconsistent with Sikhism and urges respecting Sikh sentiments.

The entire Sikh community respects the Sahibzadas and has given them the moniker “Babas” since the Sahibzadas of Sahib Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji made significant sacrifices while they were young, according to Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan.

But the distinctive martyrdom of the Sahibzadas is not exclusive to any one nation, group, or philosophy. Speaker Sandhwan acknowledges Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s desire to commemorate the Sahibzadas’ national martyrdom.

However, referring to the Sahibzadas’ martyrdom as Veer Bal Diwas is not consistent with Sikhism.We hope that the Prime Minister would consider the sentiments of the Sikh community when deciding on the name of Sahibzadas’ martyrdom day. In this way, respect for the nation’s feelings will be upheld and our youngsters will learn the unmatched tale of Sahibzadas’ martyrdom, he continued.
