Chandigarh: In an important press conference, Cabinet Minister and Minister of Food, Lal Chand Kataruchak, announced the commencement of the Punjab Wheat Procurement 2026 season starting from April. The Mann government has completed all arrangements to ensure a smooth and efficient procurement process for farmers across the state.

Wheat Procurement Arrangements Across Punjab

Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak shared that Punjab Wheat Procurement 2026 will take place across both existing and temporary mandis. Key details of the arrangements include:

  • 1,897 existing mandis ready for wheat collection.
  • 267 additional ARZI mandis set up to facilitate extra procurement capacity.

These steps aim to provide hassle-free wheat sales for farmers and avoid any delays during the peak procurement season.

MSP and Financial Support for Farmers

Under the Punjab Wheat Procurement 2026, farmers will receive ₹2,585 per quintal as the Minimum Support Price (MSP), which is ₹160 higher than last year. This increase ensures better financial returns for wheat growers.

Furthermore, the CCL (Central Cooperative Ledger) has already reached ₹30,973 crore in April, indicating the government’s preparedness to support smooth transactions and payments during the procurement period.

Government Commitment to Farmers

Cabinet Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak emphasized that the Mann government is fully committed to supporting farmers under Punjab Wheat Procurement 2026. He assured that all mandis are equipped and staff have been deployed to assist farmers during the procurement process.

“We have made all arrangements for wheat procurement. Farmers will get the MSP without any issues, and the government is fully dedicated to their welfare,” Minister Kataruchak stated.
