Punjab showcases sector-specific policies, new infrastructure, and SUJAN’s ₹150 crore hotel investment to boost industry and tourism.

The Government of Punjab presented its forward-looking industrial reform agenda, sector-specific policy initiatives, and major infrastructure plans at the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Northern Region’s Regional Council Meeting in Amritsar. The purpose of these plans is to accelerate the state’s investment momentum.

Punjab is quickly becoming a top location for quality investments, according to Mrs. Anjali Singh, Chairperson of the CII Northern Region, who welcomed Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora. She emphasized that SUJAN’s ₹150 crore investment in Punjab’s hotel industry, starting in Amritsar, is a powerful testament to the state’s easing business climate.

This significant pledge demonstrates growing faith in Punjab’s economic recovery and enhances the state’s premium tourism scene. We anticipate a significant increase in tourism-led investments as a result of the government’s ease of doing business reforms and progressive policy interventions,” she said.

Mrs. Singh suggested that the government actively promote the land banks that are available, build cold chain infrastructure to help agriculture and perishables, find heritage sites to encourage tourism, and look at hiring a state brand ambassador to represent Punjab both domestically and internationally.

Speaking to the Council, the government’s dedication to creating a strong, adaptable, and forward-thinking industrial environment was reiterated by Shri Sanjeev Arora, Minister for Industry & Commerce, Investment Promotion, Power & NRI Affairs.

Punjab has a clear, reform-focused plan and is making progress. For long-term clarity for investors, we have established 24 sectoral committees and will soon develop a Master Industrial Policy with specific policies for each of the major sectors,” he said.

In order to prepare a comprehensive report on energy requirements through 2035, including the anticipated mix of thermal and renewable power sources, Punjab is doing long-term power planning, the Minister explained.

He said that in order to improve industrial infrastructure, two new exposition centers have been identified for land in Mohali and Ludhiana, and that the tendering process is currently under progress. Land identification is underway in Amritsar, where a third center is proposed.

The Minister emphasized the ongoing reforms to make doing business easier, stating that all green-category and certain orange-category industries will be cleared within five days under the Right to Business Act.

Punjab now has two international airports, two freight container stations, ten ICDs, and the functioning Adampur airport, according to the minister’s information on connectivity and logistics. The construction of the new Halwara airport will improve industrial accessibility and fortify the state’s logistical network.

With SUJAN’s historic investment commitment, industry leaders and the government expressed a strong sense of partnership as the meeting came to a close. They expressed optimism about Punjab’s growth trajectory, the state’s growing appeal to investors, and the promising potential of tourism-driven development.
