Punjab Private School Fee Regulation :  The Punjab government has introduced a major reform in the education sector by approving a cap on annual fee increases by private unaided schools. The decision comes after Governor Gulab Chand Kataria approved the state’s fee regulation ordinance, which limits fee hikes to a maximum of 5% per year.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann shared the development through his official X account and described the move as an important step in the interest of students and parents. He thanked the Governor for approving the ordinance aimed at preventing unreasonable increases in school fees.

New Ordinance to Protect Parents from Arbitrary Fee Increases

Under the Punjab private school fee regulation, private unaided educational institutions will no longer be allowed to increase annual fees beyond the fixed 5% limit at their own discretion.

The government stated that the decision is designed to bring transparency to the fee structure and provide financial relief to families facing rising education expenses.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that education should not become a commercial activity and assured that the government would continue working towards reducing the financial burden on ordinary families.
