Punjab Police seize 5 kg heroin and arrest Kuldeep Singh in a cross-border smuggling case linked to a Pakistan-based handler. Investigation continues.
Punjab Police, DGP Gaurav Yadav said here on Monday that Counter Intelligence (CI) Amritsar has busted a cross-border narcotics smuggling module with the arrest of its one operative and recovered 5 kg heroin from his possession, as part of the ongoing effort to make Punjab a drug-free state in accordance with Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s directives.
Kuldeep Singh, a native of the Amritsar Rural area of Bhindi Aulakh Kalan, has been identified as the apprehended suspect. In addition to seizing the contraband, the police have seized his Hero Deluxe motorcycle, which was being used to deliver the packages.
According to the DGP, initial inquiries have shown that Kuldeep Singh, the culprit who was apprehended, was following instructions from Awan, a Pakistani smuggler who has been employing drones to drop drug shipments from over the border.
The DGP provided operational details, stating that teams from CI Amritsar had received specific intelligence regarding the retrieval of a large shipment of drugs from the Indo-Pak border area that fell close to the village of Bhindi Aulakh. The suspect is anticipated to deliver the shipment to the next party in the vicinity of the village gate. According to him, the CI Amritsar police squad moved quickly to stop suspect Kuldeep Singh on the Ajnala to Lopoke route and seized a heroin shipment from him. According to him, more research is being done to identify the forward and backward connections in the network.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 71, dated November 29, 2025, has been filed at Police Station State Special Operations Cell, Amritsar, under provisions 21, 25, and 29 of the NDPS Act.
