AAP leader Kuldeep Dhaliwal hails the Centre’s decision rejecting Haryana’s demand for Chandigarh land and calls it a victory for all Punjabis.

MLA and chief spokesperson for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab, Kuldeep Dhaliwal, hailed the Punjabi people’s triumph in rejecting Haryana’s demand for land in Chandigarh to construct a separate assembly.

Haryana had long demanded property in Chandigarh for a separate Assembly, according to Dhaliwal. He said that our government and party, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, had previously informed the Center that Haryana could not be granted land in Chandigarh for the construction of a separate Assembly.

According to Dhaliwal, Chandigarh is a part of Punjab and was constructed on Punjabi territory. He applauded the Center’s recent ruling in this case. He claimed that the only reason this was feasible was because we had taken a strong stance on the matter in previous years. He referred to this triumph as “a victory of all Punjabis,” rather than as belonging to any particular party. Additionally, he recalled that at that time, the Prime Minister and the Home Minister had received letters from the Chief Minister on this matter.

Dhaliwal asked the Center to make it clear that Chandigarh is a part of Punjab. No one else has a claim here, he said, and we don’t take any claims from anyone else. Punjab owns Chandigarh and will continue to do so. He called for Chandigarh to further support the Punjabi language. He asserted that since Punjabi is our native tongue, Chandigarh ought to adopt it in the same way that Punjab does.
