Punjab Police conducts 324th day of anti-drug raids under “Yudh Nashian Virudh” campaign; 80 smugglers arrested, 7 kg heroin seized.
Continuing the fight against drugs under the “Yudh Nashian Virudh” campaign led by CM Bhagwant Singh Mann, Punjab Police conducted operations on Monday for the 324th consecutive day. Raids at 262 locations across the state resulted in the arrest of 80 drug smugglers and the registration of 57 FIRs. This brings the total number of drug smugglers apprehended over the campaign to 45,331 in 324 days.
The operations also led to the seizure of 7 kg of heroin, 828 intoxicant tablets/capsules, and Rs 5,420 in drug-related cash from the accused.
Over 100 police teams, comprising more than 800 personnel under the supervision of 59 gazetted officers, carried out the raids and checked 270 suspicious individuals during the day-long drive.
The state government’s three-pronged strategy—Enforcement, De-addiction, and Prevention (EDP)—continues to tackle the drug menace. Under the ‘De-addiction’ initiative, Punjab Police successfully persuaded 19 individuals to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment on Monday.
