Punjab Police, under DGP Gaurav Yadav, busts 962 gangster modules, arrests 2,536 criminals, and seizes guns, drugs, and cash since April 2022.

Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav stated here on Thursday that Punjab Police has busted 962 gangster/criminal modules, arrested 2536 gangsters/criminals, and neutralized 24 throughout the state since April 2022, reiterating its unwavering commitment to combating organized crime and ensuring the safety of citizens.

Notably, in order to successfully battle the state’s gangster culture, the Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, established the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), which is led by Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Promod Ban.

According to DGP Gaurav Yadav, Punjab Police teams have also found 2086 guns, 564 cars engaged in criminal activity, 79 kg of heroin, and Rs 4.69 crore in narcotics money in the custody of arrested individuals.

According to him, there were at least 324 gunfights between the police and criminals during this time, resulting in the neutralization of 24 gangsters and the arrest of 515, 319 of whom were injured. “Unfortunately, 41 police officers were injured during the firefight, and three of our colleagues became martyrs,” the DGP stated.

In the meantime, the unit has led focused operations against the state’s and the nation’s gangsters and criminals since the AGTF was established. In order to conduct coordinated operations against the criminals, AGTF has also communicated real-time intelligence with different field units.
